Coach Jill Ellis’ 23-player United States women’s national team roster for the SheBelieves Cup was announced on Tuesday, providing another window into what the Americans’ World Cup roster might look like later this year.
Notable absences are midfielders Lindsey Horan, due to a quadriceps injury, as well as Allie Long and Morgan Brian. Long will be joined by defenders Merritt Mathias and Emily Fox, as well as goalkeeper Jane Campbell, in training with the team ahead of the tournament in Tampa, Florida. Those players will not be on the official tournament roster.
This edition of the tournament will feature Brazil, England and Japan with doubleheaders on Feb. 27 in Chester, Pennsylvania, March 2 in Nashville, Tennessee, and March 5 in Tampa, Florida.
