Georgia Stanway’s 12th minute goal held up for the three points. Arsenal still hold an edge having played one match fewer, holding a superior goal difference, and the comfort of hosting the season-ending showdown against Man City on May 12. The loss was a crushing one for Birmingham City’s Champions League chances and they are now fourth behind surging Chelsea. Matt Beard’s West Ham United are up to sixth after taking their third straight win. League play resumes January 6.
