Saturday night’s Washington Spirit-Sky Blue FC match was postponed due to lightning in the area. The match will be played Sunday at 10:00 a.m. EDT at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The match will be streamed as usual via the league site and app.
The reschedule means that Sky Blue will have to play two matches in three days–an unprecedented occurence in NWSL. Their Tuesday night match in Chicago against the Red Stars is a makeup from a July match that had to be postponed when Sky Blue’s flight was cancelled and no alternate arrangement could be made in time.
The match will be the last of the season for the Spirit who are currently riding a 10-game losing streak and goalless droughts of seven games and 694 minutes. All three are league records. Sky Blue meanwhile, are in the midst of a 21-match winless streak–also a league record–and have yet to win this season.
