Saturday night’s NWSL match between the Chicago Red Stars and Sky Blue FC has been postponed. Sky Blue’s flight from Newark on Friday was cancelled and the club was unable to find alternate accommodations to make it to Chicago in time for the match. There was no makeup date immediately announced. The match was the only one of the weekend with the rest of the league electing not to play with Tournament of Nations ongoing.
This is the second NWSL match to be postponed in a week. Last Saturday, weather made the Washington Spirit-Houston Dash match untenable and it was played under sunny skies the next morning.
The Red Stars now face three consecutive weekends without a league match as they were off last weekend and will not play again until Friday, August 10 against the Courage. Sky Blue are in Orlando on Sunday, August 5.
