Lianne Sanderson has joined Juventus Women and will play in next year’s UEFA Champions League. Sanderson will join Eniola Aluko as former England national team players set to join Juventus who are looking to get stronger after arriving in Serie A and winning the title in their first season. The announcement was made over the weekend and Sanderson has already trained with her new side.

It has been a long road back for the 30-year old who was last seen playing for the Western New York Flash in 2016. That team won the NWSL Championship but Sanderson watched the final on crutches after suffering an ACL tear during a friendly against the Thailand national team.

Sanderson’s U.S. club history dates back to the Philadelphia Independence in WPS where she played in 2010 and 2011. In NWSL, Sanderson has played for the Boston Breakers, Portland Thorns FC, and Orlando Pride as well as the Flash. At Chelsea in 2008-2010 Sanderson scored 20 goals in 26 appearances.

Reign waive Maddie Bauer

Seattle Reign FC announced on Monday they have waived Maddie Bauer. The first round pick in 2017 made only one appearance this season, a 16-minute bench assignment in the club’s May 5 rivalry win over Portland Thorns FC.

“I want to thank the entire Seattle Reign FC organization,” Bauer said through the club. “I have learned a lot and made some incredible friends. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience and continuing my football career.”

Bauer is the second first round pick from the 2017 draft to be waived this season. No. 4 selection Kayla Mills was cut by Sky Blue FC earlier this season. Bauer was selected sixth overall.
