Friday Roundup: Mexico announces squad to compete in Barranquilla 2018

Today, Mexico announced it’s 20-player squad to compete in Barranquilla 2018, the 21st edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games.
The event is set to take place in Barranquilla, Colombia beginning on July 18 through August 3. The games will include 37 participating nations across 400+ different sporting events, including both men’s and women’s soccer.
On the women’s side, defending champions Mexico, along with Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Nicaragua will be participating. Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Jamaica will compete in Group A while Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti and Nicaragua will compete in Group B with the first matches kicking off on July 20. The top two teams from both groups will advance to the semifinals, where the winners of those two matches will compete for the championship.
Full Mexican roster below that will take the field in a week under head coach Roberto Medina.

Chicago, Orlando with minimal misses ahead of NWSL weekend

Today, the NWSL released the injury report ahead of this weekend’s games. Orlando Pride have a completely clear injury report, while the Chicago Red Stars only have Stephanie McCaffrey listed who’s been battling illness for the better part of the season so far. Bianca Henninger is listed as out on international duty for the Houston Dash as she will be reporting to camp for Mexico, whereas Katie Johnson is not listed for Sky Blue FC even though she’s been called in for Mexico as well, she will be available this weekend. For the Courage, Jess McDonald is out with an excused absence and Jaelene Hinkle, Sam Mewis, and McCall Zerboni are all listed as questionable.
