Washington Spirit sign midfielder Maddie Huster
Today, the Washington Spirit officially signed midfielder Maddie Huster.
Maddie Huster, younger sister of Spirit veteran Tori Huster, was originally selected in the third round in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by the Spirit out of Wake Forest University in January. She first made the NWSL roster as a National Team Replacement Player during the FIFA window earlier in June.
The Ohio native played with the Spirit Reserves for multiple seasons. With the Reserves, she helped the team to a W-League Championship title in 2015.
Huster is also a former U.S. Youth National Team player. She received call-ups at the u-14, u-15, u-18, u-20 and u-23 levels for the youth USWNT.
The Huster sisters will join Kristie and Samantha Mewis as NWSL siblings. Like Tori Huster, Kristie Mewis is an NWSL original. She currently plays for the Houston Dash but is out for the season after tearing her ACL. Sam plays for the North Carolina Courage and is a regular on the United States national team.
Barnes and Krieger off NWSL injury report ahead of weekend games
Heading into this weekend’s NWSL games, Lauren Barnes is off the injury report after a concussion for Seattle and in Orlando, Ali Krieger is also not listed after a knee injury kept her sidelined. Morgan Brian, Rose Lavelle, Jalene Hinkle, Abby Dahlkemper and Sam Mewis are all listed as questionable for Chicago, Washington and North Carolina.
