No more injuries, please: 5 things to watch for from the U.S.’ friendlies against China

Consider the names returning to U.S. women’s national team camp this week. Christen Press was out in April, dropped as she was finding a new club. Samantha Mewis, Julie Ertz and Tobin Heath? Their fitness left them sidelined against Mexico. Amy Rodriguez is back in camp after a year-long recovery from an ACL injury, Rose Lavelle’s hamstring has improved enough to see her recalled for the first time since September.

If there is a theme to this week’s games against China, it’s that of the returning player, but in that theme comes the absence’s cause. For many returning to the fold, the U.S. was part of the problem. And in that problem, we find our first (of five) things to watch:
