The United States will play in Group A at Sahlen’s Stadium Group A in Cary with matches on October 4, 7, and 10. Canada will head Group B at H-E-B Park in in Edinburg on October 5, 8, and 11. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals in Frisco on October 14. The semifinal winners will qualify for the 2019 World Cup and will also meet in the tournament final October 17.  Also on October 17 the semifinal losers will play for another World Cup bid. The fourth place finisher will still have a chance to reach the World Cup through a two-leg playoff against a team from South America.

Mexico is also qualified for the October tournament. The other five nations will be determined via qualifying events this summer.
