After 38 minutes of scoreless soccer and a lengthy weather delay, FC Kansas City and the North Carolina Courage abandoned their match Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village. Because the match did not reach half time, it will be replayed in its entirety. All of the statistics will be wiped out.
There was no immediate announcement about a makeup game. The postponement is the first in NWSL this season. The five-year old league has yet to play a full season without at least one match having to be rescheduled.
The non-game means the Courage end the week outside 1st place for the first time this season although they did pick up a match in hand on the Red Stars. They will host Seattle on Saturday, August 5 following the FIFA break. FC Kansas City are in Boston on Friday, August 4.
