The Chicago Red Stars and Houston Dash played to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Toyota Park in Illinois after a 45 minute weather delay.
The Red Stars opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of play. Vanessa Dibernardo played a short corner to Danielle Colaprico, who then turned and took a shot on net, which deflected off of a Houston player and into the net. The goal was credited to Colaprico.
Houston equalized in the 82nd minute through Rachel Daly. Daly received the ball from Kealia Ohai just on the outside of the six-yard box, turned, and fired a shot that deflected off of a defender to beat Red Stars keeper Michele Dalton.
Stephanie McCaffrey, who was traded to the Red Stars from the Boston Breakers on Friday, came off the bench and made her Red Stars debut in the 85th minute. Neither team could find a winner in the closing minutes of the match.
Next up for the Red Stars is a home game next Saturday, July 30 against FC Kansas City, while the Houston Dash return home next Saturday to host the Western New York Flash. The Olympic break will begin after the NWSL games next weekend.
