USWNT grants wish of teen in ‘My Wish’ series

SportsCenter’s “My Wish” is an annual series of stories which are often both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Mackenzie Toman was discovered at age 13 to have severe chiari malformation, a congenital defect which required immediate brain surgery. Toman hasn’t let her spirit be broken, though, and her wish of getting to meet the U.S. women’s national team recently came true in the United States’ 1-0 win over South Africa earlier this month.

Toman, of Davison, Mich., traveled with her family to see the match in Chicago and to meet the team the day before the game. She was personally greeted by U.S. forward Alex Morgan, who kicked the ball around with her.

The full video is above. ESPN and Make-A-Wish are in their 10th year of the “My Wish” series.
