Dash, Sky Blue play to scoreless draw in Houston

The Houston Dash and Sky Blue FC played to a scoreless draw on a rainy Friday night at BBVA Compass Stadium. The result leaves both teams on four points and without a victory in two matches after they both secured opening weekend victories.

The Dash had the edge in play and the final stats showed them outshooting Sky Blue 17-6 on the night. But they could not get anything by Caroline Stanley who collected the clean sheet in her first appearance for Sky Blue. Her best moment came in the 69th minute when she stopped Rachel Daly’s near-post shot after Daly was played in by Poliana. Stanley later got some help from Erin Simon who cleared a would-be match-winner off the line with her chest just before the clock flipped into stoppage time.

Carli Lloyd and Morgan Brian both missed the match for the Dash. Lloyd sprained her MCL last week in Orlando. Brian was held out of the starting lineup due to lingering hamstring issues, was available as a substitute, but did not get the call. Amber Brooks missed the match to attend a wedding.

Sky Blue (1-1-1, 4 points) return home next weekend to host the Flash, 3-0 losers to the Spirit earlier on Friday. The Dash (1-1-1, 4 points) hit the road to face FC Kansas City.
