Australian forward Michelle Heyman announced via Twitter on Friday that she would not be returning to the Western New York Flash.  The Flash later announced Heyman had been waived.  The popular 27-year old joined the Western New York side after the World Cup last summer and had a goal and an assist in nine matches, all starts.

Heyman appeared in all five of Australia’s World Cup matches last year and registered one assist. She is currently in Japan ahead of what figures to be a contentious Asian Olympic qualifying tournament beginning this weekend. Last October she wrote a first-person account of her experiences for National Coming Out Day.

With Heyman out of the mix, the Flash now have two international roster spots to work with. They gained one two weeks ago when Sabrina D’Angelo became an allocated player by the Canadian Soccer Association.
