John Herdman named his 23-player roster for this months Canada women’s national team training camp in Vancouver, and it features a blend of veterans and youth players, much like last month’s roster.
Teenagers Jessie Fleming, Kennedy Faulknor, Gabrielle Carle, Marie Levasseur and Deanne Rose all join Canada veterans Christine Sinclair, Sophie Schmidt and Melissa Tancredi.
Notably absent from the roster are Emily Zurrer, Carmelina Moscato, Kaylyn Kyle, Lauren Sesselmann, Adriana Leon and Jonelle Filigno.

“There will be some tough decisions,” Herdman said. “Players are coming into this camp aware selections will be made and this is part of the process, you see how players handle the increased pressure. The smaller rosters really mean we have to drill down to how players function within their positional teams, and how they connect with each other on and off the pitch. It’s honestly going to be tough to narrow down this field.”
Only 20 players can be rostered for next month’s CONCACAF Olympic qualifying event, where Canada seeks to become one of the two teams to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
