Three prominent players will say good bye to the United States national team during friendlies against Brazil next week.  And a bunch of fresh faces will be along for the ride hoping to latch on to the team as it prepares for next summer’s Olympic Games.  On Friday, head coach Jill Ellis called in the entire World Cup roster plus Crystal Dunn and seven others to train ahead of Wednesday’s match at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.  The United States and Brazil will play again on October 25 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

Among the players who were not at the World Cup, four are uncapped.  They are Flash rookie Jaelene Hinkle, Breakers rookie Stephanie McCaffrey, Virginia senior Emily Sonnett, and 30-year-old Bayern Munich defender Gina Lewandowski.  Of that group, McCaffrey was briefly in camp when she made a brief cameo earlier this year following a U-23 camp; and Lewandowski was in a camp in 2012.

Flash midfielder Samantha Mewis, Spirit midfielder Christine Nairn, and Paris Saint-Germain forward Lindsey Horan are all back in the mix after being capped prior to 2015.  Horan should be in good form having scored twice in PSG’s Champions League win earlier this week.
