NWSL Friday preview: Sky Blue travel to Houston

With Sky Blue’s season teetering on the brink, the club heads to Houston on Friday night. Last time they were there, Nadia Nadim scored the only hat trick in club history. The Dash also allowed a hat trick last week and will be looking to get back on track.

Friday

Sky Blue FC at Houston Dash
8:30 pm EDT, BBVA Compass Stadium
Watch: Foxsportsgo.com
Series: Sky Blue lead, 2-1-2

Points of Interest: The Dash not only gave up a hat trick last time Sky Blue visited, they gave one up in their last game, a 3-1 loss in Washington in which Crystal Dunn tallied all three goals for the Spirit. Back at home they will try to consolidate their position, current fourth but with the Thorns and FC Kansas City just a point back and the Flash two back. Sky Blue are on the cusp of elimination, and they can thank the two times they played the Dash back in New Jersey. In both instances Sky Blue struck first and were the better team for more than a half before. But the Dash walked out with 1-1 draws both times. Injuries are a factor. Erin McLeod has a laceration on her right shin and is unlikely to start. For Sky Blue, Kristin Grubka had her nose bloodied last weekend and is listed as probable.
