One Wednesday match, to be streamed on Foxsports2go.com, between two teams badly in need of points. Here is a look:
Boston Breakers (3-9-3) at Portland Thorns FC (4-6-4)
10:00 pm EDT, Providence Park
Series: Breakers lead, 5-3-0
Points of Interest: The Thorns come off a huge win at Western New York when they shook off travel fatigue and a three-match scoreless streak to beat the Flash. That result may well have saved their season, but the chirping will start up again if they are unable to handle the Breakers. Christine Sinclair gained a strike partner when Ayo Ayonma moved up in a 3-2-3-2 and the Canadian enjoyed her best NWSL match this season. Jodie Taylor has been upgraded to probable and could also be of service at striker. As for the Breakers they have enjoyed success against the Thorns over the years, but an eight-match winless streak has them all but eliminated from playoff contention and trying to stay out of double digits in the loss column.
