Washington Spirit forward Estefania Banini will miss the rest of the 2015 NWSL season in order to undergo surgery to repair cartilage in her right knee.
The Spirit expect Banini’s recovery to take five or six months.
“Estefi is a very important player to us and she will be hugely missed this season,” said head coach Mark Parsons.

Banini played in all four Spirit matches thus far this season. The 24-year-old Argentine was expected to be a large part of Washington’s plans this season.
