PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Crystal Dunn scored two goals and played a large role in the third as the Washington Spirit defeated Sky Blue FC, 3-1 on Sunday at Yurcak Field.

Dunn opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the match and scored again in the 40th minute to give Washington a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Three minutes after the break, it looked like the rout was on. Dunn stole the ball from Sky Blue defender Cami Levin inside the Spirit’s own half. After dribbling up the field, Dunn found new Nigerian signing Francisca Ordega, who sent in a low cross to Christine Nairn for the finish.

Sky Blue FC got a goal back in the 62nd minute when Nadia Nadim’s cross found Katy Freels’ head, but Freels’ second goal of the season wasn’t enough for Sky Blue.

Dunn has three goals in the last two games. Earlier this week said she told The Equalizer’s Jen Gordon that she is discovering herself in the NWSL after being left off of the United States’ World Cup roster.
