Washington Spirit defender Ali Krieger was stretchered off the field at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston after suffering an apparent head injury 18 minutes into the National Women’s Soccer League season.
Krieger was strapped into the backboard with a neck stabilizer. She put a hand up to wave to the crowd, followed by a clap as she was stretchered off the field. Play stopped for approximately six minutes.
Krieger appeared to make head-to-head contact with Houston Dash forward Jessica McDonald while challenging a cross. The Washington Spirit tweeted following the 2-0 loss to the Dash that Krieger has been diagnosed with a mild concussion.
