Wednesday may have been an ominous day for Brazil’s 2015 World Cup hopes.
Germany handed Brazil a 4-0 loss in a friendly just two months ahead of the competition. Striker Celia Sasic scored early on a penalty kick, while midfielders Simone Laudehr, Melanie Leupolz and Dzenifer Marozsan all scored to complete the rout.
“I am already pretty much in love with my team. What we planned, they perfectly implemented,” said Germany coach Silvia Neid, who will step down from her position next year.
Germany is ranked No. 1 in the world headed into the World Cup. The Germans play one more tune-up game, on May 18 against Switzerland.
