FC Rosengård and holders VfL Wolfsburg played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday in Leg 1 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinal. Marta scored the lone goal for the champions in the 56th minute, but Wolfsburg — the two-time reigning European champions — equalized 10 minutes later through Verena Faisst.
Marta’s goal provides Rosengård with a potentially important road goal in the home-and-home series, which shifts to Malmo on Saturday.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Glasgow City, 2-0 in Scotland on Sunday, a result that puts the French side well on its way to the semifinals. Anissa Lahmari and Kheira Hamraoui scored on each side of halftime.
Charlotte Rohlin gave Danish side Brøndby a big away goal in the 14th minute of Leg 1 against Linköping. The return leg is set for Saturday.
Saturday’s match was the most lopsided, with FFC Frankfurt crushing Bristol Academy, 5-0. Verónica Boquete, Bianca Schmidt, Dzsenifer Marozsán, Mandy Islacker and Kerstin Garefrekes all scored.
