Happy Birthday to United States women’s national team legend Mia Hamm, who turns 43 on Tuesday.
Hamm scored 158 goals for the U.S., setting what was at the time an international record. Abby Wambach, Hamm’s former teammate with the U.S. and the Washington Freedom, broke Hamm’s world goal-scoring record on June 20, 2013. Hamm won two World Cup title and two Olympic gold medals with the U.S., retiring at the end of 2004.
These days, Hamm is one of several co-owners of Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles expansion team to begin play in 2017. She is also on AS Roma’s board of directors.
