Abby Wambach waved the green flag alongside fellow honorary starters Christie Rampone and Kelley O’Hara at last week’s Daytona 500, NASCAR’s most famous race.
U.S. Soccer has a pretty great inside look at how things went for the three U.S. women’s national team players, including what looks like an exhilarating ride around the oval with J.J. Yeley, who finished 40th on the day. Wambach’s goal for the day was to not drop the flag.
The trio of U.S. players then departed for Portugal, where they are currently training for this week’s Algarve Cup. The U.S. kicks off the tournament on Wednesday against Norway.
Check back this week for complete coverage of the Algarve Cup.
