Reigning German and European champions VfL Wolfsburg played Bayern Munich to a scoreless draw on Sunday to stay atop the Frauen-Bundesliga.
Melanie Behringer’s shot from seven yards out in the 29th minute was saved by Wolfsburg goalkeeper Almuth Schult after a nine-player wall couldn’t block the initial shot. Bayern earned the indirect free kick when Schult handled a ball that the referee determined to have been intentionally played back by a defender.
Luisa Wensing’s diving header in the 52nd minute was the best chance for Wolfsburg, but the effort went just wide.
