Forward Alex Morgan scored her 50th goal for the U.S. women’s national team on Friday against England, becoming the third-fastest U.S. player to reach the feat.
Morgan’s 50th goal came in her 79th game for the United States. She is the 10th player in U.S. history to score 50 or more goals. Current teammate Abby Wambach scored her 50th goal in her 64th game and FIFA co-player of the century Michelle Akers scored her 50th career international goal in her 48th game.
Morgan’s goal put the United States ahead of England 1-0 in the 25th minute on Friday. She headed the ball in off of a cross from Lauren Holiday.
