U.S. head coach Jill Ellis has added forward Stephanie McCaffrey to the roster for the remainder of the team’s January training camp in Carson, Calif. The camp runs through Jan. 25.
McCaffrey, an outgoing forward from Boston College, trained with the U.S. U-23 team earlier in the month in a simultaneous camp. She scored 32 goals in her four-year career at Boston College. The U.S. roster is now at 30 players.
McCaffrey made news in 2012 forĀ her tweets about Jerry Sandusky ahead of Boston College’s NCAA tournament second-round game against Penn State. The tweets were deemed insensitive and she was suspended for the match. Boston College lost the match.
McCaffrey is expected to be drafted in Friday’s NWSL College Draft.
