
Coach Jill Ellis on Friday named a 29-player roster for the U.S. women’s national team for an extended January training camp in Los Angeles and the roster includes all 24 players who recently went to Brazil.
Joining the 24 players are defender Rachel Van Hollebeke, goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, and midfielders Kristie Mewis, Shannon Boxx and Allie Long. The team will train at the at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from Jan. 5-25.
Training alongside the senior team from Jan. 3-10 will be the U-23 U.S. team along with nine overage players for a total of 24 players, all of whom are trying to impress Ellis ahead of the World Cup and next year’s Olympics.
