Twelve NWSL players, including nine who are overage for the U-23 U.S. women’s national team, will join the squad for a January training camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from Jan. 3-10.
The camp will run simultaneously with the senior U.S. women’s national team camp, allowing U.S. coach Jill Ellis and her staff to evaluate all 24 players, five months prior to the 2015 World Cup.
Among the NWSL players in camp with the U-23 national team are 2013 NWSL Rookie of the Year Erika Tymrak and FC Kansas City teammate Sarah Hagen. Seattle Reign FC defensive midfielder Keelin Winters, who just turned 26 years old, and Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai are also in camp.
Three players from the United States’ 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Team were called up: Stanford’s Jane Campbell, fellow goalkeeper at UCLA, Katelyn Rowland, and Wisconsin midfielder Rose Lavelle.
