Brazilians keep finding their way to Boston as the 2015 World Cup fast approaches. The Boston Breakers announced on Thursday the signing of 22-year-old forward Ketlen Wiggers, the third Brazilian in a month to be signed by the team.
Wiggers joins Andressa and Francielle in Boston for the 2015 season ahead of the World Cup in Canada. Brazilian Suzane Pires is also on the Breakers’ roster; she went to college at Southern Connecticut State and played for the Breakers reserves.
Wiggers currently plays for Centro Olimpico in Brazil, where she won the Federação Pernambucana de Futebol in 2013 for the third time. She also played for Vittsjo in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan in 2013. She has played in three U-20 Women’s World Cups.
“Ketlen is tremendous with the ball at her feet. Her balance and close control when running with the ball is exceptional, and she is capable of scoring goals from a variety of positions on the field, which adds more dimensions to our attacking threat in 2015,” Boston Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said. “She is another technically gifted player who will be exciting to watch, and another player with experience above her years.”
