The United States women’s national team will play Switzerland — the first European team to qualify for next year’s Women’s World Cup — on August 20 in Cary, N.C.
The match marks the first-ever meeting between the two teams. It will be streamed live on ussoccer.com.
Switzerland is ranked No. 19 in the world. Familiar names on the Swiss squad include Ramona Bachmann, who played for the Atlanta Beat in WPS, andLara Dickenmann, who played college soccer at Ohio State.
This will be the 12th match for the U.S. women in North Carolina, and fifth in Cary at WakeMed Soccer Park. They are 5-0 at WakeMed.
The NWSL playoffs begin on August 23.
