YURCAK, N.J. — After waiting through a rain delay of more than four hours, Sky Blue FC and Houston Dash had their match postponed at Yurcak Field. The lightning alarm went off around 6 p.m. ET just as players were making their way onto the field for warmups. Soon after, a violent storm ripped through the area and rainy conditions with lightning continued until well after 10 p.m.
The game was called around 10:30 p.m. ET, although neither the league nor Sky Blue had made an official announcement. Makeup information is pending. Neither team is likely to be a factor for a playoff spot, decreasing the likelihood the game will be rescheduled.
NWSL postponed one game in 2013 when the Breakers elected not to travel out of Boston in the wake of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. That game, in April in Kansas City, was rescheduled later in the season.
