Switzerland became on Sunday the first European country to qualify for the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
Switzerland’s 9-0 win over Israel on Saturday, combined with Denmark’s 1-1 draw with Iceland on Sunday, clinched the Swiss their first-ever World Cup finals berth.
“It is an explosion of emotions,” said Swiss coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg.
Switzerland has run away with Group 3, currently sitting at 7-0-1 (22 pts.). The next closest team in the group in the group is Iceland, which sits on 10 pts. through six matches.
