Spirit blank Red Stars behind Huster goal

Tori Huster scored five minutes into the 2nd half to lift the Spirit to a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars at Benedictine University Sports Complex. The spirit improved to 2-2-0 (6 points) while the Red Stars dropped to 1-1-0 (3 points). Ashlyn Harris kept a clean sheet for the first time this season, something the Spirit did not accomplish last season until August.

The sequence began with a Yael Averbuch free kick that she cracked to the left post, forcing Karina LeBlanc to dive and parry it out of bounds for a corner kick. Off the corner, Renae Cuellar appeared to get away with a foul to maintain possession. With no call, Danesha Adams picked it up and fired a cross that found Huster unmarked on the far post where she headed in her 1st goal of the season and 2nd in NWSL.
