Every National Women’s Soccer League game will be streamed live on YouTube, the league announced on Tuesday. All games will be free of charge.
After an inaugural season that featured a wide range of team streams — from high-quality to absolutely terrible, and hosted on several different platforms — the league has now unified broadcasts on one leading online platform.
According to the NWSL, the league has “established improved live streaming production standards for the 2014 season.” All games will be shown in HD with at least three cameras, “with experienced camera operators to provide better images of the action along with a standardized league-wide graphics package.”
Last year, Fox Soccer televised nine NWSL games. There is no mention of whether or not there will be a TV deal to complement the YouTube deal. FC Kansas City, the Houston Dash and Portland Thorns FC have local television deals in place.
