Sky Blue FC announced on Tuesday the signing of Japanese forward Nanase Kiryu, pending P-1 Visa approval and receipt of her international transfer certificate (ITC).
Kiryu becomes the third Japan international to enter the league ahead of the 2014 season. The Houston Dash signed defender Aya Sameshima in January and Seattle Reign FC acquired Nahomi Kawasumi on loan for 2014.
“I’m looking forward to playing with my new teammates and competing with and against world-class talent,” said Kiryu, who is still searching for more time with Japan’s national team at age 24. “I will strive to play my best in every game, and I want to score many goals for the team.”
Kiryu has 40 goals in 127 appearances for NTV Beleza in Japan.
