USWNT U-20s cruise into summer’s World Cup

The defending U-20 Women’s World Cup champion United States qualified for the 2014 edition easily, beating Trinidad & Tobago 6-0 on Friday in the semifinal of the CONCACAF U-20 Championship semifinals.

The United States will play Mexico, who also qualified for the World Cup by beating Costa Rica 3-1, in the final on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

McKenzie Meehan and Stephanie Amack each scored twice, while Savannah Jordan and Mallory Weber kicked in a goal apiece to book the United States’ tickets for Canada in August.

Lindsey Horan was not with the team after being recalled by French club PSG ahead of Saturday’s game against rival Lyon.

Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago will play in the third place game on Sunday, with the winner qualifying for the World Cup.
