A rare day of NWSL news Thursday overshadowed the last day of Round of 32 play in the Women’s European Champions League. The last 16 are now set with the opening legs scheduled for the weekend of November 9-10 and then quick turnarounds for the 2nd legs November 13-14.
Here are the matchups:
Fortuna (Denmark) vs Tyreso (Sweden)
Potsdam Turbine (Germany) vs Lyon (France)
Zorky (Russia) vs Birmingham City (England)
Malmo (Sweden) vs Wolfsburg (Germany)
Arsenal (England) vs Glasgow City (Scotland)
Barcelona (Spain) vs Zurich (Switzerland)
Konak (Turkey) vs Neulengbach (Austria)
Rossiyanka (Russia) vs Torres (Italy)
Four clubs advanced on Thursday. The tightest was Konak’s scoreless draw at Unia Raciborz to preserve the 2-1 aggregate scoreline from the home leg. Rossiyanka drew 1-1 to Spartak Subotics to move on 5-3 on aggregate. Glasgow City held Standard to a draw in Belgium and then came home to win 3-1 to advance. And there was little drama in England where Arsenal won 11-1 to advance 18-2 on aggregate over CSHVSM-Kairat.
