Bayern, Potsdam, Frankfurt set pace in Germany

Potsdam, Frankfurt and Bayern Munich all kept pace with each other on a full day of Frauen-Bundesliga action on Thursday. All three teams won to move to 7 pts. on the season after three rounds.

Frankfurt cruised to a 4-0 win over BV Cloppenburg, while Potsdam defeated Duisburg, 2-1, with Genoveva Añonma scoring the eventual game-winner. Americans Amber Brooks and Sarah Hagen each scored to lift Bayern to a 2-1 victory over SGS Essen.

Elsewhere, SC Freiburg defeated FF USV Jena, 2-0, while VfL Wolfsburg finally rekindled some of that treble-winning form in an 8-1 thrashing of VfL Sindelfingen. Martina Müller had a hat trick for Woflsburg.

Bayer Leverkusen and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim ended at 2-2 in the only draw of the day.

It’s a quick turnaround for all the teams, with 10 teams in action on Sunday and Frankfurt and Leverkusen having the unfortunate prospect of a two-day turnaround to face each other on Saturday.
