United States women’s national team and Sky Blue FC defender Christie Rampone will miss 4-6 weeks after having an arthroscopic surgery on her right knee Wednesday in New Jersey.
The surgery was “to clean up some loose bodies that were causing her irritation during the NWSL season,” U.S. Soccer announced.
Rampone played 51 minutes in the USA’s 7-0 thrashing of Mexico on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Sydney Leroux scored four first half goals in the match.
Rampone played in 20 matches for Sky Blue FC this season, helping the club to the NWSL semifinals. She is the captain for both Sky Blue and the United States.
