Lori Lindsey is heading to Canberra United of the Australian W-League. Under terms reported by thewomensgame.com, Lindsey will join the club at the end of September. Canberra’s new season begins November 9 in Brisbane.
Lindsey, 33, has not played for the U.S. since Feb. 13, when she came on as an 85th minute substitute vs. Scotland. With the Spirit this season Lindsey started all but one match and rarely left the field. She had a goal and three assists, but her lone strike was a goal of the year candidate on May 11 against the Breakers.
The Women’s Game report indicated one other Spirit player and a third U.S. player will be joining Canberra, but neither player was named. FC Kansas City midfielder/defender Kristie Mewis played a pair of games with Canberra in January, but FC KC says Mewis is not slated to return to Australia at this time.
