Chicago Red Stars midfielder Alyssa Mautz is The Equalizer’s NWSL Player of the Week, as voted on by the editors of the site.

Mautz replaced injured captain Lori Chalupny in the 18th minute and scored two goals in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Portland. Mautz narrowly missed out on the hat trick when her 84th minute shot was cleared off the line.

While Chicago is still on the outside looking in at the playoff picture, the point was critical in the Red Stars’ quest for a late miracle run.

This marks the second time a Red Star has been voted The Equalizer’s Player of the Week. Chalupny earned the honor in Week 10. Chalupny’s health is still unknown after suffering an ugly tackle from behind that injured her right ankle on Sunday.
