Quick Look: Both teams exit poor showings. Sky Blue were manhandled early in a 2-1 loss to the Flash, their first setback of the season. The Red Stars were on the wrong end of Sydney Leroux’s hat trick in a 4-1 loss in Boston and now face a short turnaround for a midweek match in New Jersey. The season is still young but the Red Stars have not looked good in their two losses and are still without Shannon Boxx.
Tactical Short: The Red Stars have scored only twice in three matches and Lori Chalupny has had a hand in both goals. Sky Blue will be looking to keep Chalupny from spending time on the ball in dangerous positions. On the other side Caitlin Foord got torn up by Samantha Kerr in Western York but the Red Stars do not have the same sort of flank players so Foord should be able to get forward more readily.
