U.S. women’s national team defender Amy LePeilbet will have surgery on her left ACL and miss six-to-eight months, the Chicago Red Stars announced on Monday.
Since LePeilbet was one of the U.S. players allocated to Chicago, the Red Stars will be able to sign a fifth free agent, just like the Western New York Flash.
The news likely means LePeilbet will miss out on the entire inaugural National Women’s Soccer League season.
