Abby Wambach scored twice on Saturday to lift the U.S. women’s national team to a 4-0 win over China in Houston.
Carli Lloyd and Amy Rodriguez also scored in a game that incoming head coach Tom Sermanni observed from a suite inside BBVA Compass Stadium.
Wambach opened the scoring in the 20th minute and her 63rd minute goal came just one minute after Lloyd’s tally doubled the U.S.’ lead. Wambach now has 150 career international goals, eight behind Mia Hamm’s all-time international record.
Rodriguez finished off the scoring in the 85th minute.
