Alex Morgan has been named the 2012 U.S. Soccer female athlete of the year for her goal-scoring campaign which continues to climb the record books.
Morgan has 28 goals in 28 games this calendar year and, along with strike partner Abby Wambach, is the reason the U.S. has enjoyed so much success to the tune of a third-straight Olympic gold medal in London this summer.
“I want to keep improving and continue to make an impact on this team,” she said in an interview with ussoccer.com. I want continue to put the team first, help the team grow and obviously the World Cup in 2015 is on our minds every day.”
