Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League results featured a good deal of Americans. Thursday still brought plenty of recognizable names, plus a juicy match-up between Arsenal and Potsdam.
Arsenal 2-1 Potsdam
Potsdam secured a critical road goal in the first leg of this aggregate series, but Arsenal will take the 2-1 lead down to Germany next week thanks to goals from Ellen White captain Katie Chapman. Potsdam captain Yuki Ogimi’s 89th minute goal put a damper on the mood for Arsenal. American midfielder Keelin Winters went the full 90 for Potsdam.
Rossiyanka 1-0 Sparta Praha
Yes, that Rossiyanka that we profiled earlier this year after some U.S. players were happy just to get out of Russia safely. Anyway, Desire Opranozie’s 12th minute goal held up in this one and it is a very big road goal.
Wolfsburg 4-1 Røa
Zsanett Jakabfi, Alexandra Popp and Conny Pohlers scored a goal each and Røa kicked in an own goal (pun intended) as Wolfsburg cruised to a comfortable win.
