Vermont tops Stony Brook 2-1 in double OT

Vermont collected its first points in America East Conference play with a 2-1 victory in double overtime against Stony Brook. Kerry Glynn blasted home the game-winner after Bre Pletnock hit the crossbar with a penalty kick. Freshman Ally Ramos, who grew up down the street from Stony Brook, was the winning goalkeeper in front of a slew of friends and family.

Stony Brook went ahead through Larissa Nysch who stuck with a play long enough to capitalize when a ball squirted loose in the box. Less than 10 minutes later Pletnick equalized on a rebound after Jess Herbst ripped a well-meant shot from long distance.

Vermont improved to 1-2 in the America East and 2-10 overall. Stony Brook is also 1-2 in the conference and 7-4-2 overall. It was the Seawolves’ first loss of the season at LaValle Stadium (4-1-2).
