On June 30, the U.S. women’s national team defeated Canada 2-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. It was the sendoff match for the U.S. women and Amy Rodriguez provided the game-winning goal for the U.S. in the 85th minute.
Canadian defender Carmelina Moscato put the ball in her own net in the 15th minute to give the U.S. the lead heading into halftime, but Melissa Tancredi finished a feed from Christine Sinclair in the 57th minute to level the game at 1-1.
But you all knew that anyway. What you need to know now is that we have some seriously awesome photos from the game thanks to our ace photographer Patti Giobetti. I’ll put money down that these are the best photos from the match (and she has plenty more where these came from), so it’s only right to feature them as a photo gallery. (With a note: Photos are copyright of Patti Giobetti, just as photos from our other photographers are copyrighted. Respect their great work by keeping that in mind. For those who don’t know copyrights….well, you can’t just copy this and use it elsewhere.)
Here are the photos:
